Christmas Card Reveal

I think it took me forever to finally agree on a design I liked. I went through 3 different designs before I settled on this one.

I wanted to go with something festive, but not necessarily the typical holiday colors. I had to find something quite easy to make in my assembly line. I was having trouble with my gallbladder at the time, and wasn't even sure if I was going to get them out in the mail. But I finished them in time to mail them. Still having trouble with the gallbladder though, and that will be taken care of tomorrow.
I have surgery, so I might have take a break from my blog for a few days. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tree

Here is one of my new sets. This image is from Autumn Leaves with Sande Krieger. I also got this set at a discount at my LSS, Country Cottage Scrapbooking. The set is so fun. The paper is by DCWV, I used my Stampin' Up tab punch to make the cute little matching tab. The sentiment stamped on the tab is from Stampendous set Holiday Words. I am still not done with my Christmas cards, I better get working on those too, instead of playing with my new sets. Have a great day, and thanks for visiting my blog. Be sure to visit my new guestbook and sign it too!

Winter Wishes

I kind of have a theme going right now with snowmen on my blog. Or maybe it is just soo fun to play with all my snowman stamps, either way I am having a good time. I got this set from Stampendous called "Winter Family" at my LSS, Country Cottage Scrapbooking. I even had my punch card filled so it was actually free. WooHoo!

The snowmen represent my family, there is Shaun, Me, my DD, and my 2 DS. The boys are not twins, but it kind of looks that way on this card, oh I forgot to mention our fur baby Tator Tot.

Snow Day!

Snow, snow, snow everywhere! I have to admit I am not the type that loves snow. I know, I live in a state that is very cold at times, and snow is second nature here sometimes. At least, I get to make cute cards with snow images on them just to cheer me up. This is LuLu from C.C. Designs "Winter Playtime". Go to All That Scraps for a peek at other designs. I am having fun with these images. Happy Snow Day!

Believe in Santa?

Here is the Shack Santa for 2007. You can buy him at Inkspirations. He will soon be retired, so get him while you can. I wanted to keep him pretty traditional and simple. Sentiment is by Studio G, those are the great little stamps you can get in the dollar bin at Micheals. I am trying to finish up my cards to send out, hope you are having a great week. Thanks for visiting my blog!

How many stamps do you have???

I began my obsession in 1994. My sister , Becky and I went to a Stampin' Up party, and well you know the story, I am hooked, and no, I don't need a 12 step program. Made this card last night, and thought it might fit nicely.

I have about 175 SU sets and still counting............

singles are over 100, and other sets are.... goodness, out of control.

I am not a jewelry type of girl, so I tell my hubby to buy me stamps. At our LSS they have a wish list, just for our better halves to buy for Christmas, birthdays, instead of flowers, get the idea! Happy Stamping (and collecting) !

True Friend

I know 2 posts in one day, who knew I had it in me.

My Stampin' Up 10's club part was last night, and I ordered this set before the Holiday Mini sets retired. It's called "True Friend", I also bought the wheel (Boho Friend) and the matching designer paper. So Fun!

The inks are Wild Wasabi and Pumpkin Pie, and I don't know where I got the ribbon but it works well with the other colors.

I find ribbon in different kind of thrift stores, and cannot pass them up. You can never have enough ribbon. I bought a huge clear plastic cookie jar from a local retail store (WM) and I store my assorted ribbon scraps in it wrapped around wooden clothespins. It's so bright and fun!

Merry Bella

I had a lot of fun making this card. I bought a cuttlebug awhile ago, but really haven't used it much. I am waiting on more folders for it that I bought from ATS, they have such a great site in case you haven't checked them out. Free shipping on anything over 10 bucks, WOW!!

I can't wait to play some more!

Thanks to "stampcrazyjulie" for sending me some Bella images. They are so fun to work with and design around.

Have a great day!

Why don't adults have snow days??

Old Man Winter came and left everything a mess! It is kind of pretty, but man he dumped about 8 inches last night. What a better way to celebrate than bring out a Bella, Snowbunnybella that is! She is so adorable wrapped up in her chic coat with lots of sparkles. The sentiment is by My Sentiments Exactly.

I love the little tab on the side, and had to CASE this design element from Kyla Maestas at Sweetwater Designs.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday, I am spending the day at our local middle school because my oldest son is in a wrestling tourney today. Have a great day, bundle up, and Celebrate Winter!

Rippen through the powder, dude!

Thanks goodness it's friday! (can you see me doing the happy dance)

It is so cold outside right now, I am so glad I am in my warm house, and not outside walking to classes on campus right now. I have two presentations to work on this weekend, and a wrestling tourney to attend tomorrow with my oldest DS. But tonight it's all about me, my stamps, ink, and a little hot chocolate. Thought I might have a little fun with another snowman, since I refuse to build one in these frigid tempatures.
This cute snowman is from retired Stampin' Up set, "Whoosh Snowman", cardstock colors are white, glorious green, and cranberry crisp.

Grumpy Old Woman.....

I am organizing all of my scraps and images that I have recieved in swaps, and I came across this little old lady by Art Impressions, named Maude. I bought the sentiment awhile ago from Viva Las Vegas Stamps in one of their grab bags. They fit so well together don't you think.

I love this saying, it fits my life right now in so many ways, but thats another story. The BG polka dots are from Stampin' Up set Polka Dots and Paisley. I hope see brings a smile to your face.

My version of building a Snowman...........

I know we are only as old as we feel , and while it would be fun to go outside and build a snowman, I hate the cold. Remind me again why I live in Montana?? Oh ya, I live on the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, and the summers here are beautiful, oh and so are the glorious mountains. We just had our first snow fall of the season, and so I broke out a few snowmen to share with you. These image were sent to me in swap, so I have no idea who they are by, if you know, can you please post it for me. Happy Winter!!

Christmas Card Idea..........

I have a few ideas in mind, and this is just one of them I worked on today. The set is from a Stampin' Up Holiday supplement from last year, and I just fell in love with this set. The red pp is actually the back of a large poker card someone sent to me. I thought it looked kind of festive.

A Fall Card

I needed a break from studying, so here is another card. The image is from retired Stampin' Up set "Happy Fall Y"All. PP is from We R Memory Keepers.

Just a little tinkering....

I am in for a weekend of studying, so before I challenge myself with a textbook. I thought I might play with my stamps, ink, and paper. I might have to take a break every couple of hours to eat, and make another card, we'll see how that goes. This quarter is almost over, and I will be glad for the break. I miss my papercrafts! Sniff!

Hope you enjoy this mornings Kreation.

I cook, but I am definately not Martha Stewart material...

We have been making a ABC Recipe Book at SU
10's Club over the last year, and we are almost finished. I have been procrastinating about my book cover, but I found some cute little things at my LSS (Country Cottage Scrapbooking)to put it together, and slammed it together before my night class yesterday. Thought I might also show you one of the many recipes. Enjoy and Bon Appetite!

Happy Fall

Had a super fun night last night, my friend Pam had a girls night poker party, and even though we only played five hands of actual poker, we talked our little butts off until the wee hours this morning. I am exhausted. I did happen however to make this fall card before heading out to her house. The image is from a retired Stampin' Up set called "Great Groupings", I think it was only offered as a hostess set. I bought it from a ex-demo for super cheap. Score!
The sentiment is from a Michaels $1 set. Enjoy!

Howdy From Big Sky Country!

It has been quite a long time since I posted a card, or for that matter actually made a card.

I have been super busy with the boys football, and just when I thought we might have a break for winter, the oldest son decided he wanted to join the wrestling team. He is pretty small, and they can never get kiddos to weigh in at his size. He will be a 98lb. freshman. Yikes! But the coach has been very interested in having a kid at that weight class. So we said, go for it!

Here is the card I made for my Stampin' Up 10's club. I had to have this set, Bronco Buster, and the matching wheel. I also bought Star Struck, and Wanted to go along with it.

I am hoping to catch up on homework and get some more cards made, maybe even start on my

Christmas cards, but that might be stretching it a bit!

SU Challenge up and running again.......

I started a challenge to myself a couple years ago, to use all my sets. I have about 170, and keep adding some each month. I have been a SU fan since 1994, and have many older retired sets, I even have sets that are not SU but were once sold by them in their first cattys. Before they went exclusively SU. I am doing the challenge alphabetically, and am finally on the C's. But I just added a new B set, so I went back and did the cards for this set. Thought I might share them with you. The flowers are from SU set Big Blooms. Thanks for visiting my blog, feel free to leave a comment or two, and perhaps join me in this challenge. I am finding new ways to use my sets.........check in often.

Wowza!! What a Softball Game.......

Yesterday we played Flathead H.S. again, only this time we played their better teams. It was a very nice warm day for a double header. Unfortunately we lost the first game, 2 - 1. My daughter had rough at bat, going 0 for 3. She was just hitting to position players. Then her 2nd game, she a had a double and an RBI. We won the 2nd game 2 - 1. After the game, my husband was talking to the coach for Flathead, and he had heard about her 2 home runs the day before, and they decided instead of throwing around her, (intentional walk) they were going to pitch her inside. She ended up short arming all of her swings, except the one she hit hard to center.
We discussed the game last night, and she should have batted left instead of right. Hinsight being....blah, blah, blah! She does hit with power both ways, bunts both ways, and also slaps.
We have another huge tourney this weekend in Butte! Oh, how sweet it is!! Her averages for the year are still the best on her team, Batting % is .539, and On Base % is .714. We still have about 7 games before state softball..........Go Lady Pirates!!

2 more HOME RUNS!!!

Yep, she did it again! 2 more dingers today. My DD is hitting so well right now, and better yet all the HR's are not getting into her head! We had a double-header against Flathead HS, and tomorrow we play them again for another double-header. These games are only pick-up games, because they are a AA school, while we are a Class A school (little smaller in size).

She has always been a long ball hitter, and finally she is facing some pitchers that actually pitch well, unfortunate for them they are not placing it where they should and she is ready for them.

Let's hope they don't walk her tomorrow. She hates walking! GO LADY PIRATES!!

Happy Birthday Isabella!!

My best friend since 4th grade finally had a baby, and unfortunately Isabella was born 3 months premature. Tomorrow is her 1st Birthday, and what a milestone it is going to be! She was born weighing only 3 lbs. 3 oz., but had little trouble with her lungs. She is truly a miracle baby.

My friend is one of the best mothers I have ever seen and it's so fun to finally share all the talks we have about our kids. Here is the Birthday card I sent to Bella, and a picture of her. What a sweetie!

Mydaughter hit a HOME RUN!!

It finally happened, she has been driving them far from the beginning of the season, but we also have been facing some pitchers that have trouble finding the strike zone. (she has the most walks on the season at 12) Not today, she hit a home run in dead center! It was so Beautiful! We went to a Jamboree in Plains, and played them and Florence. Her second at bat, she hit it! She was the first to hit one at practice this year, and then she just settled into the season, and has been hitting good, but we all knew she was due to put one over the fence.

She went 7 for 8 today with 4 singles, 1 walk, 1 triple, and her HOME RUN!

I was glad she didn't let it get to her head, so she would go up there each time and wanting to do the same thing, she batted smart and got base hits, stoled home and played defense really well.

We beat Plains, 12-0, and Florence 4-1.

Not a bad day at the fields at all!

Memorial to a great teacher........

Yesterday was a pretty sad day, I attended a memorial service for one of my favorite teachers who passed away in March. He worked at the local college where I first started my higher education. He was my english and speech teacher for the first 2 quarters, and one of the most fun people to be around. He must have thought a lot of me too, because he asked me to be a tutor for one of his classes, and help a student that was struggling. I really felt honored that he choose me out of all the other students. The door to his office and his favorite bench outside, when he chewed on his pipe and the days happenings were always open for a good conversation. I took a lot of what he taught me to my other school, and I passed on a way to write that he taught me to my own kids when they are struggling with how to put a topic on paper.

I learned so much more about him yesterday, and found out that he touched more than my life, he touched all that knew him. There were so many people who spoke about how much he ment to them. You know life goes on, and I lost touch with him, but about a week before his death, I happened to run into him at a local business, and as usual he engaged me in conversation, and wanted to know how I was doing. I only wish now I could have sat down on his favorite bench and chewed the days happenings.

I wasn't going to speak yesterday at his memorial but I felt compelled to let his family know what a great teacher he was, and I got pretty choked up while speaking. I got most of the things out that I wanted to say, but then last night I couldn't help but think he was up in heaven and saying, "Marie , you didn't prepare". He was always joking, and he would have said that with a smile. I thought about what else I wanted to say but couldn't get out, so I am going to say it now:

"There are 2 teachers in my life that stand out in my memory:

1. Keith Langford, my 5th grade teacher at Terra Linda Elementary, who gave me love of reading.

2. Allen Hibbard, my college english teacher and mentor, who gave me the love of writing.

Without these two great teachers coming into my life, I would not be the person I am today."

This card I made awhile ago is dedicated to Allen, he was a inventor and made handcarved fly fishing poles. He loved fly fishing., which is another thing we sat a talked about, because that is the only way I fish, and he loved that fact. Thanks to my Dad for teaching me how to fly fish. Thanks Allen for making a difference in my life.

Blog Tag....

I've been tagged again, but his time I have to list my 5 favorite blogs. Thanks Chelsey for tagging me! Heres my list:

1. Twisted Chick : When I grow up I want to be a Cardmaker like her. This Chick rocks!!
2. Smileycollector: Pam has an amazing eye for details, and I love to see her new creations.
Plus who could resist a lady that collects Smiley faces, if you have never seen her collection, blog or website, check it out. Sure brings a smile to my face. (pun intended)
3. Kyla Maestas: She is a Shack Sistah, and just became one of the 20 finalists for the Paper Crafts Magazine Idol Gallery Contest. Her cards are also fantastic.
4. Shuggy: Not only does Angie make some great cards, and post them on her blog. She also cracks me up, the ramblings on her blog are some of the funniest I read. Again a another Shack sistah! And a downright nice person.
5. Amy Rysavy: Such a fun site to look at and inspire you!

I don't know who else to tag that hasn't already been tagged, so if you are reading this and haven't been IT yet , you are now!!

Glacier National Park

We have so much fun every summer when we visit
Glacier National Park. The Going to the Sun Road has so many sights and sounds. Now the kids are older and it's much easier to go hiking and do other activities. If you ever get a chance, you need to visit.

A Card for Our Troops

I have a very good friend that I just found out is doing his second tour in Iraq.
It makes the issue a little closer to home than before. I hope that he comes
home safe and sound, and I thank him and all the other troops, and their families
for their daily sacrifices. May God Bless America and our Troops!
I paper pieced this card, and the stars are from Stampin' Up retired set Button, Button.
The sentiment is by Studio G (Hampton Arts), and the ink to age the card is Tim Holtz.

I've been tagged.....

Shuggy, tagged me and wants me to list 7 things about myself someone might not know.
Here goes:

1. I was my High School Mascot, Elwood the Eagle, Duchesne Utah 1988.
2. I loved the movie, Smokey and the Bandit, while a kid. So much so, I wanted
to become a trucker, and have a basset hound named, Fred.
3. My DH and I knew each other for 2 weeks when we moved in together, and 17
years later, he's still my best friend.
4. I took rollar skating lessons as a teenager, and can do flips while on rollar skates.
Although, I rarely do that at my age now.
5. I have a fear of heights, I can't even be watching a movie or TV and see the view from a cliff or building without it making me sick. But flying has no effect on me.
6. I was a Future Farmer of America for 4 years, and Vice President of my Chapter while in High school.
7. I have never seen the ocean.

Now I have to tag someone, let see, how about
Pam (smileycollector). She might be the only one Angie didn't get.

What an exciting game we had.....

Yesterday we played C. Falls, and just as expected they gave us a good game. Their JV did a heck of a job, defensively and offensively. We were down by 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th innning, and my daughter came in from 1st on a single hit by Staci, our freshman shortstop.

My daughter got on base by the way she hates the most, a walk, but she ended up being the winning run across the plate, so she was pumped about that. She went 3 for 4 at the plate, and made some great plays in center to get some outs for the team. Her on base percentage right now is .694, and her hitting average is .500. Not bad for a sophmore, who has played since she was 9 years old. The card I made last year, the pp is Karen Foster. The alphabet are stickers, I cut out sections of the pp to make the yellow come through, and the yellow brad has stitches added for the ball detail.
Now I have to wait until tuesday for another game, sniff! But we play Frenchtown, who is our only loss on the season. Go Lady Pirates!!

Thursday, April 26, 2007

Another softball day.....

I know, I'm crazy for softball. I just love the game. We play C.Falls today, and our last game was pretty close, so it will be a good day. Our weather is going to be in the 70's today, so that is also wonderful. This is a book I made for publication and personal use. I am tracking my daughters progress for college in it. The paper and stickers are Karen Foster. I wish more companies would do softball in the right colors, not just in baseball colors.
Just my gripe! The charms and hardware are Making Memories. Alpha are punchies. My daughter is still having a great games. No home run yet, but she leads her team in RBI's, so that is also a good thing. I am always reminding her that coaches want baserunners, not just big hits. Her defense is great also, she plays centerfield. Go Lady Pirates!! Still undefeated.....

A Big Day!

What a busy day this is going to be. It's my DH's 42nd birthday, and he's grumbling about being old. Although he is in great shape physically. And what a better way to celebrate than watch our daughter play softball. Maybe she'll give him a homerun for his birthday.

Friday, April 20, 2007

One of a Kind

Made this card for publication, but unfortunately it wasn't picked up. I thought sharing it with you all, might be even better. The pp is from DCWV, and I added small square to it. the stitching is from Sassafras lass Stamps- Stitched Borders. I made the middle flower out of fiber and ribbon, and an old button from my stash. The other flower buds are paperclips. There was no sewing for the belt and buckle, only used sticky tape. Hope you like it!

Softball on my mind........

It is the season after all, well spring season that is. I can't wait for summer ball. Maybe then my daughter will face a challenging team. We played yesterday in Libby, and again we won 17-0.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take a win anyday, but I like the ones that come after a close game.

Anyway, let's hope we have a great game with Flathead next week.

This picture is from Summer Nationals in Newberg, Oregon. This hit ended up a triple that put my daughter on third, and then the next pitch was a over throw, my daughter stoled home and won the game for us, moving us into final games.

cards for some friends

Here are 2 cards I made for some friends. The pp is Basic Grey, and is called Chloe.
The stamps are by Studio G from Michaels.
I hope they get them soon. I really love these pp, and the colors.

Montana Moose

This Moose stamp was sent to me by a good friend, and so I am making some great cards out of it. This pp is so cool, and fits the card so well.

Softball Weekend

We had a game on friday against the wildcats, we won 10-6. And my daughter had 4 at bats, 2 doubles, 1 single and 2 RBI's. Then on saturday we had a double header against Corvalis and Hamilton. We beat Hamilton 25-1 (Yikes), my daughter had 5 at bats, 3 singles, and 2 RBI's.

The score against Corvalis was another slaughter by us, 22-0, my daughter went 5 for 5 at bat, which included 3 singles, 1 double, 1 walk, 1 RBI, and 4 stolen bases. So over all we beat the teams pretty well. The batting from all the girls is finally coming around and they are killing the ball. We play Libby this Tuesday, and finally they are a good team that will challenge our girls defensively.

A Card for my Friend, Shuggy.

My friend and shack sistah, Shuggy has a very important visit today. This card is for her, with wishes of good news.
